XSite Pro (thewomaninwhite.info) Day 2.

Web Master’s Log: Supplemental

Today I worked a little harder, but by no means worked all day on thewomaninwhite.info.

I have been writing some sales copy for two eBook versions, and also a pack that will enable people to get an editable version of the book’s text and also some publishing resources.

XSite Pro has held up well with the exception of the Pop-Ups facility. I know Pop-Ups are frequently abused but as this I want to enter the web site in the XSite Pro competition, and using the product’s many facilities is an area that will be judged I thought I would use one only on the site.

This gives publishers the option to purchase a phenomenal amount of material for just $67.00 US. It’s a huge saving on the Standard and Gold versions of the Publisher’s Pack.

But the software claims that a delay may be programmed into the Pop-Up, or Pop-In but in both Firefox, and Internet Explorer 6 it seemed to load almost immediately.

In the end I decided to the best solution was to use a Pop Up, which registers in the browser’s management system, rather than a Pop In which doesn’t get detected. It seems to me that if people don’t want Pop-Ups then they should have the opportunity to exclude them, even mine.

Of course this means that they won’t benefit from the massive savings on offer.

The eBooks are, of course much less expensive and represent excellent value for ‘Woman In White’ enthusiasts who ‘just have to read the story today’. Later in the week I will post an on-line version of ‘The Woman In White’, which anyone can view.

Why should anyone want to buy the EBook versions then, you might ask? You’ll have to go to the web site to discover why I think these eBooks are such good value. But if you do so, please remember that this is a web site under development. The look and feel have yet to be customized and I intend to make a start on that task tomorrow. Unfortunately I’ve only an hour, or so, to spare as I am spending most of the day in Marmaris.
