Street photography – Marmaris
(or, how we mıssed our bus!)

Waıtıng For A Bus That Wıll Never Come!
Yesterday I wrote of going to Istanbul in order to practice street photography. The FinePix E900 should be ideal camera for this kind of work.
Herni Cartier-Bresson always used a standard [50mm] lens on his Leicas for this kind of work, but most street photographers prefer something wide, maybe a 35mm, or 28mm lens. The e900 provides, [the compact digital equivalent of], a 32mm lens at its widest setting, so is a good compromise.
In this picture we see Amazon and Irem about to catch the shuttle to the Istanbul bus, or at least that’s what they thought when the picture was taken.
Unfortunately the shot is one of two people happy in their ignorance that the bus had gone!
The next half hour was dramatic as we pursued the bus by taxi finally catching it 20 Km from Marmaris. By this time the tension, and the ventilation and movement of an ancient Fiat Taxi going at top speed had become too much for Amazon.
She vomited all over Irem just before we finally reached the bus. If you know two year olds you will be aware that they can contain nearly a quart of bile, and Amazon is no exception as Irem discovered.
Once safely installed on the bus and Amazon was given a full change of clothing, only to repeat the performance.
At our first scheduled stop all three of us changed our clothing before proceeding further through the night journey to Istanbul.
