A Victory For Diplomacy And Love

It seems at least a week ago that I was predicting that diplomacy would win the day, and that the British service personnel seized in disputed waters in the Persian Gulf would be released. In fact it was just two days ago.

Indeed my statement that their release should be celebrated by a National peal of bells came yesterday, some hours prior to President Ahmadinejad releasing the captives in a blaze of publicity. As well as decorating three Revolutionary Guards, for their part in the capture, he also expressed the belief that love is important in the world, a view exhorted by some in the restaurants and cafes of Turunç.

At midday GMT our people should be setting down at London’s Heathrow Airport.

This is a great victory for diplomacy. In this day and age dreadnoughts must be considered obsolete.
