Mega billionaire Bill Gates took time out from Microsoft to visit Marmaris with his wife recently. Gates (49) and wife Melinda (40) are co-founders of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which seeks to reduce world poverty. The couple have three children.
The couple have been cruising in the motor yacht Leander G (345 ft 3 – 75 m). The launch was built in 1992 by Peenewerft, (Germany), and is powered by two 3600 hp Deutz-MWM engines. It’s fast, and also carries its own helicopter as well a number of tenders. The Leander G is normally located at Monaco, but its home port is at Hamilton of the Isle of Wight where it is registered with the Royal Yacht Squadron.
But Mr. and Mrs Gates were on-the-streets with Sibel Romano, the manager of Marti Resort Hotel visiting souvenir stands and also spent some time on the beach. During the couple’s stay in Marmaris they also played a little tennis and dined out at local restaurants.
Bill Gates was knighted earlier this year.
