It’s still possible to climb Ortahisar but no-one lives in it now. My neighbour at breakfast thought there would be a lift to take her to the top but an enthusiastic American of eight, or nine, years informed me that there are lots of steps, and of these most are ladders.
After a shower this hunk of volcanic material looks magnificent, but I still think the view can’t be beaten on the night of a full moon.
