Photography: Return To Helmut’s Tree

Just days ago I was discussing Helmut Newton’s landscape images, how he produces tension, and their surreal somber quality reminiscent of some of the images of Bill Brandt.

Truth be told though I wasn’t best pleased with the image I made of the blazed tree at Amos so today I went out with my 40mm 150mm zoom, the famous kit lens, and made another.

It’s different, and perhaps more like Brandt than Newton?

More Brandt than Newton, Maybe?
