Photography: Simple Photoshop Skills
Photoshop has become more than a brand. Just as Hoover was once the term for any kind of upright vacuum cleaner so Photoshop has become the popular term for any image editing software, even if not manufactured by Adobe.
So when I write Photoshop skills here I’m not really referring to Adobe Photoshop but rather any image editor, and the good news is that your digital camera, or printer, most likely has supplied you with an image editor. If not why not download ‘The GIMP‘ which is a free open source editor.
Here are three images all originally recorded in the same instant.
The first is a jpeg file rendered by the camera’s on-board firmware. The second image was rapidly adjusted in Photoshop using the curves tool.
The third image is a heavily contrived image made from the camera RAW file and processed in Photoshop using a number of layers.
