The First Post From Amos Bay

Oliva and Toscani are very clever people. About three years ago they put together ‘The One Minute Manifesto’ which took Italy by storm.

It’s difficult to know if it made a significant impact on the Internet, but this week it had a significant impact upon me.

The Manifesto exhorts us to “get rid of the homepage”, stop corporate self-glorification and to start serving quality information to potential customers.

Wimsey Coat of ArmsI first came upon a weblog a few years back when researching the coat-of-arms of Lord Peter Wimsey the fictional detective created by Dorothy L. Sayers.

A search in Google Images produced an odd little sketch that originated in Alf Erickson’s http://www.corkscrewballoon.com.

What I discovered was that virtually every day, rain or shine, whether in Europe, Asia, the USA or wherever, Alf produces a post.

Some of his posts may seem a little obscure, and the nude women, that appear in some of his entries may cause offence to some, but he posts daily and is to be admired for it.

Hopefully I will be able to provide some news from my little corner of the world, which connected as it is via ADSL is not so remote as you might think?

This is the first post in this weblog. The last time I attempted to write a journal I must have been about twelve years old.

After a few days I noted: “Nothing has happened today”. And later even this meagre entry was replaced with the word ‘ditto’.

I do not intend to let it happen here.

Oh yes: Oliva Toscani’s manifesto is downloadable from here: http://www.changethis.com/7.OneMinuteSite
