Amos Restaurant Re-opens

After the long winter our local is re-opened for traditional Turkish cuisine, including fish, kebabs, pide, and host of salads. All may be complimented with a glass of fine wine, or beer if you prefer?

Mehmet is having a fine time supervising his staff. He appears always to be seated, gazing out to sea. A glass of red wine, and a newspaper are usually within easy reach. Meanwhile the waiters are busiy painting and tidying up after the winter.

New refrigeration has been installed and the full menu is slowly beginning to take shape. It’s nice to have a local within walking distance once again.

    Hi Stephen,

I am enjoying your site, and wonder if you could offer some advise – I sense a kindred spirit !
We are arriving in Turkey in a couple of weeks, with no accomodation booked beyond the 1′st 2 days, which we’re spending in Mazi, before heading down to the Bozburun peninsula, where we’re looking for peace, quiet, good water, good food and all the best things that bring us back to Turkey. Do you have any tips about Sogut and the other villages ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Best wishes,

    Charles

    Hi Charles,

Sogut has a wonderful, if basic, cafe restaurant that specialises in Octopus and Squid. The locals eat this with red wine and so who am I to suggest beer? Go for the wine even if visitors prefer Coke, Fanta, and anything but the red. The photograph of the house in this entry was taken in Sogut.
Accommodation will depend upon your budget. We put our guests up at Gul Panyson in Turunc which is basic, clean and comfortable. You will probably get a room facing the sea.

Turunc itself is much quieter than Marmaris and it’s possible to book a number of tours and other activities such as scuba diving from agencies in the Town. If you have a car and a road map you can then explore local places such as Kumlubuk, which is extensively covered on this web site.

I hope you will have a pleasant stay ~ let us know of your adventures and experiences.

    Kind regards,

    Stephen Bray
