Twitter Questions

I just got a DM from Harry on Twitter, here’s what he asked:

I was just wondering if you had any ideas to build a twitter following, increase social networks or make money online? Please post any idea”

Since my ideas are longer than a tweet, I’m posting my reply to him here so all can benefit from my thoughts.

Hello Harry,

Thank you for your tweet. Let’s take your questions in order:

Ideas to build a twitter following:

1. Decide why you want a following, who you want to follow
you and why. Be very specific or you will have lots of
followers, none of whom will read your tweets.
Research and post excellent content relevant to those
followers.

2. Avoid over automation, however it’s OK to send an
automated DM when someone follows you. Just don’t try to
sell them anything.

3. You can also automatically post links to your blog posts
using twitterfeed. I do!

4. There are programs that can help you to gain followers,
be cautious!

5. Remember Twitter isn’t your business, so use it to have fun,
keep in touch, but concentrate on building followers in the
real world where you and your family live and breathe.

Increasing social networks:

There is only one way to effectively increase your
presence in social networks, this is participation.

On the other hand, according to Frank Kern, such
participation can amount to, “screwing around”, to
use his parlance.

So always participate with an end purpose in mind.

Making money on-line

1. People who make money on line also know how to make
money off-line. Using money in appropriate ways is the
mindset, rather than simply making money, or being on-line.

2. The money isn’t in the list, it’s in the people
with whom you have a relationship.

3. Never try to sell to people, instead make it easy
for them to recommend your product, or service.

4. Aim for an image of quiet, unassuming, excellence.
It will serve you well.

That’s my take.
