Using S7Raw to enhance your Fuji Finepix Images

Original Unenhanced RAW Image
I’m unsure how much difference you can see in these two images obtained from the same RAW file today? The original photograph is of one of the blooms in the garden ‘snapped’ with the Fuji Finepix E900. You may think this is a macro shot but in fact the lens was zoomed to 28 mm, which is the equivalent perspective as a 130 mm lens would be on a 35 mm film camera.
The FinePix Viewer software bundled with the camera doesn’t allow for much editing of the RAW image, but a free utility S7Raw provides all the flexibility Finepix users might wish for. In the second image, [below] I’ve stretched the histogram for both the red and green channels, not by much but the result is more contrast and far deeper saturation. Both images were then converted to low resolution .jpgs for web viewing so they won’t appear as sharp as the originals. Nevertheless I hope you will appreciate how just a little editing can enhance even a good Raw image.
