Who Is Stephen Bray?
A Definitive Source For Stephen Bray Information

Adam Sandler, Stephen Bray and Hugh Grant

Paul Goodman, the US poet and educator who like me was born on 9th September once said:

“All men are creative but few are artists.”

My name is Stephen Bray. According to Wikipedia I am a successful songwriter, drummer and record producer from Detroit.

It is written there I befriended Madonna during her pre-stardom days at the Blue Frogge disco when she attended the University Of Michigan in Ann Arbor for dance studies. We went to New York and became part of the band The Breakfast Club. Eventually we wrote songs together and Madonna obtained her recording contract with Sire Records from this collaborative work.

My partnership with Madonna continued until around 1990 but we have since drifted apart. Together we apparently wrote and produced some of the biggest hit songs of the 1980s.

But I remember nothing of any of this. If I knew Madonna surely I would remember? But I don’t? Is it possible that maybe I’m there is another other Stephen Bray about whom I know nothing, and who probably knows little, or worse, cares little about me?

J.A. Hitchcock writes in Pipes and Tobacco Magazine : “Stephen Bray doesn’t consider himself a creative person. This is what he claims at first. But once he begins talking about clay pipes, he divulges things that prove he is not only creative, but innovative as well.”

Stephen Bray (pipe maker) provides a wonderful history of clay pipes and how they are made as well as helpful tips about how to care for them.

Hmmm, songwriting and pipe-making maybe I’m developing amnesia? Perhaps it’s because like Adam Sandler and Hugh Grant today I am a year older that my mind is becoming enfeebled?

No dear readers, that’s not the case at all and it’s time to set the record straight with the definitive definition for Stephen Bray:

Stephen Bray was born in Portway Hospital , Weymouth on 9th September, 1950. He is the author of some ebooks and far too many articles to list here. He also is a Psychotherapist, a Management Consultant, Master Practitioner of NLP, Family Therapy Trainer, Writer and Editor, and a Photographer. He currently lives in Amos, Turunc, Mr. Marmaris, Turkey. His daily journal Pebbles From Paradise is the acme of sophistication.

Madonna, though my name is Stephen Bray I would love to meet you for the first time. Hugh Grant and Adam Sandler, if ever you’re passing near Amos feel free to visit for some cake. It doesn’t even have to be on our birthday. To Paul Goodman I say ‘Rest in Peace’, and to Stephen Bray the pipe maker I would add: “Give up the filthy habit, for it will rot your teeth and gums”.

Many Happy Returns to all of us born today!

I always wondered who you were and finally I know. I learned about 25 years ago that my hitherto assumed uniqueness was not so. On investigating my family tree, I discovered to my horror, several other Laurie Phillips’s! Goodness knows how many other namesakes there may be out there – too awful to contempate.
Excellent site. I shall read it slowly with pleasure. Love to all. Laurie

  2. Stephen Bray Says:

    Thanks Laurie,

Despite my definitive entry on Stephen Bray, this page hasn’t yet supplanted the Madonna songwriting Bray at Google . . . but give it time!

P.s. I enjoyed reading through your website and will definitely visit pebbles from paradise..haha I googled you after finding your site the first time and had a moment of slight confusion over the drummer/pipe-maker/Madonna friend as well. Thanks for clearing that up with humor! :)

Hi there – Found an article that you wrote called, “Managing Generation X.” It’s quite good. The article provoked me to look you up online. Could find your previous website quietquality.com.

I believe we first “met” on the Whispering in the Wind forum.

Hope you are doing well – Ryan

  5. Stephen Bray Says:

    Hi Ryan,

I remember you from ‘Whispering In
The Wind’. It’s some time since I wrote
    that piece on Generation X.

    Don’t ask about my QuietQuality
    domain. The other week some
    people were attempting to sell
the domain name back to me!

And yes, I’m very well, but these
days spending most of my time
    making photographs rather than
    thinking about epistemology.

    Thanks for being in-touch.

    Stephen
